An Emirati was killed while his compatriot critically injured, when the car they were travelling in crashed into a lorry on Monday.
On being alerted about the accident at 9pm, the Fujairah Police dispatched civil defence teams, patrol cars, and an ambulance to the accident scene.
According to the report, the deceased, identified as M.A., 28, was accompanying his countryman A.M., 26, who was driving his car on Al Halah road in Fujairah, when the latter decided to take a U-turn. While taking the turn A.M. did not pay heed to the oncoming traffic and was hit by an oncoming heavy truck that smashed into his car.
The impact of the crash was such that A.M.’s car was tossed in the air and turned upside down.
Both A.M. and M.A. received serious injuries and were taken to the Dibba Hospital, however, M.A. who was in the passenger seat, was pronounced dead on reaching the hospital.
