One jailed for drug abuse
In another case, the Court of Appeal upheld a lower court’s ruling sentencing a 31-year-old man to one year in jail for possessing and consuming drugs.
The convict, A.R, and another person, identified as 29-year-old G.R., were caught in possession of drugs while they were seated in a car in March this year.
The analysis of A.R.’s urine tested positive for drug abuse.
Both the accused challenged the verdict, and the appellate court upheld the ruling against A.R. sentencing him to one year in prison.
G.R. told the court that he used the drug according to a doctor’s prescription.
The court referred the doctor’s prescription to the forensic medicine department to verify its authenticity and reserved its verdict in his case.
