Man wounded in shooting incident in Naif area

An Asian was seriously injured in a shooting that took place in broad daylight on the busy Al Sabkha Road in the Naif area of Dubai on Tuesday.

The victim in his early twenties was shot in both legs.

The police received information about the shooting near the bus station around 1.30pm. Police patrols and a rescue team reached the scene in minutes and rushed the Asian to Rashid Hospital where he has been in the ICU in a serious condition.

An eyewitness told Khaleej Times that he heard the sound of shooting while he was walking along the road.

He saw a man collapsing to the ground and people running helter-skelter. Soon, the police arrived on the scene and took the victim away in an ambulance. He said people on the scene saw two suspects merging into the crowd within seconds. One of them was fair, had long hair and was wearing a black shirt and jeans, and the other suspect was wearing a black shirt and black trousers.

The police have launched a manhunt and are trying to identify the victim and the motive behind the crime.
