Man who molested teen at knifepoint jailed for 3 years

A cleaner, who sneaked into a villa at night and sexually assaulted a teenager at knifepoint, has been sentenced to three years in jail.
The 37-year-old Sri Lankan has been accused of sexually assaulting the 14-year-old Indian girl at knifepoint in her bedroom after gagging her.
The Court of First Instance convicted him of charges including sexual assault, attempted burglary and trespass and ordered his deportation.
The girl, a student, said that at around 3 am on Jan. 27 she woke up to see the defendant sitting in the dark on her bedside. He had covered her mouth with a duct tape.
She felt scared after seeing he had a knife. "He held the knife and threatened me not to scream or move or he would kill me," she told the investigators.
When he left the place after molesting her, she called her father.
After about 25 days, the girl spotted the accused near Al Hamriyah Park in Deira so she snapped his picture and reported him to the police. The accused was arrested shortly later.
A police sergeant quoted the accused as admitting to have entered the villa at Al Waheeda in Al Muraqqabat, through a window, looking to steal some valuables but he could not find any.
The accused admitted to the officer that he sexually assaulted the teenager after threatening her with a knife he took from the house.
