An Asian man stood trial in the Fujairah Criminal Court for allegedly breaking a car's windshield and robbing a smartphone from inside it.
As per court records, the car's owner, a GCC national, parked the vehicle before a building in Fujairah. The suspect moved around the vehicle, spotted a smartphone inside, and decided to steal it.
After ensuring that there was nobody around, the man smashed the car's windshield, and escaped the scene with the smartphone.
Alerted about the incident, the Fujairah Police initiated investigations, and managed to identify the robber from the surveillance cameras at the site.
The CID officers tracked the suspect down and arrested him in no time.
The man was brought to the Fujairah public prosecution, where he admitted to the robbery.
The accused was referred to the Fujairah Misdemeanour Court on charges of smashing the windshield of the complainant's car, and robbing his mobile phone.
The court ordered adjournment of the case to a later time for issuing its verdict.
