A 32-year-old Emirati allegedly raped a tourist after luring her into a flat under the pretext of throwing a party.
He allegedly imposed himself on her after threatening to assault her physically.
In the Court of First Instance on Sunday, the defendant was charged with rape.
The incident allegedly happened on December 8 last year.
The tourist, 36, said she met the accused on December 6 at a party in Jumeirah. "He learnt that I am into organising parties for my friends and acquaintances. He told me he wanted to throw a party at his place," she told the prosecutor.
Two days later, he took her in his car to a flat in the Second of December Street. "I found the flat very small, so I suggested that he organise the party somewhere else."
Suddenly, the man allegedly pushed her to a bed and locked the flat's door. He took her mobile phone and told her he wanted to have sex with her.
The woman reportedly told the defendant she was married and had children. However, he grabbed her hand and allegedly had sex with her against her will. She felt dizzy and fell off the bed as she has diabetes. "He asked me to have sex with him again. I begged him to let me go as I was exhausted and would ... faint because of the illness."
He then dropped her at the place she parked her car.
The accused denied the woman's accusations and claimed he did not meet her alone.
According to the Criminal Evidence Department report, the DNA traces of the semen lifted off the woman's body matched with the defendant's.
The court adjourned the hearing to September 6.
