A man, who allegedly sexually abused a 13-year-old girl at her home and later emailed her an inappropriate video clip, has gone on trial at a Dubai court. The 27-year-old Indian man denied in the Court of First Instance charges of sexually assaulting a minor and inciting her into sin by sending her inappropriate material.
Public prosecution records show the sexual harassment had been going on since the Indian girl was 11 years old, but a complaint was only filed in August this year at Bur Dubai police station.
The girl said the accused sexually assaulted her on several occasions, when he used to visit their home. He would kiss and inappropriately touch her. "I did not inform my parents because he always threatened that my mother would then beat me up and send me back to India," the girl told the prosecutor.
The girl's mother, 47, said she found a clip rated for adults when she was checking her daughter's email inbox. "I confronted her with what I found and it was then that she told me about the defendant's actions. I then realised why she would become nervous whenever he showed up at our place."
A policeman said: "The accused said during interrogation he and the girl were romantically involved. He would visit them during holidays. He would wait for her mother to go to the kitchen or bathroom to get intimate with the teenager. The mother kicked him out one day after she walked in on them and caught him touching her daughter."
The accused admitted to the charges during police and public prosecution investigation.
The court adjourned the trial to December 17.
