A 39-year-old man groped a woman when he went to visit her employer, and claimed he meant to ask about her weight, a Dubai court has heard.
The defendant, a Jordanian, reportedly confessed to the police he touched the woman's waist and face. The defendant went to the company where the woman is employed as a clerk and asked for a glass of water. As she went to fetch it, he followed her into the kitchen and allegedly groped her.
In the Dubai Court of First Instance on Tuesday, the man was charged with molestation. The Filipina clerk, 24, said in the investigation that the defendant went to the company around 6.45pm on October 12 to give some gifts to her boss.
"I told him my boss was not in then and he asked me for a glass of water." She shouted at him when he groped her, after which he rushed out. He went back shortly later to tell her not to inform her boss. A police lieutenant said the accused admitted to touching the woman as he liked her.
"He claimed he went back to say he was sorry but she was crying and did not pay any attention to him." The officer said there were no surveillance cameras in the clerk's office or building.
