A man has been accused of verbally insulting his coworker in Sharjah.
The two had been playing a friendly football match organised by their company, a local media entity.
According to Arabic sources, the man had allegedly called his coworker 'silly' and 'foolish', among other offensive terms.
The accused claimed that they had an argument during the match, during which heated words were exchanged. He claimed the victim was attempting to hurt his reputation at work by filing a court case against him.
He added that because of the court case, he was unable to go on his honeymoon because his passport was held by the authorities pending his hearing.
Because of the harm he incurred as a result of the case, the accused filed a court case in return.
The victim later recanted his statement and waived his rights in writing.
