The Federal Supreme Court has reversed an appeal court ruling in a cross-dressing case.
According to local media reports, a man was sentenced  to five years in prison for cross-dressing as a woman, but was later referred to a health center for mental examination under an appeal court ruling.
The suspect was accused of sharing pictures of himself dressed up like a woman with makeup.

The Supreme Court reversed the sentence after examining the case and assessing that the man had no mental problems.

An appeal in this regard was submitted by the public prosecution.
The man was accused of committing an indecent act by sharing pictures of himself dressed up like a woman with makeup on on social media, particularly Snapchat.
The public prosecution has submitted a case against him in court, after which he was referred to a medical center of treatment.

However, the public prosecution had appealed against the ruling, after which the Supreme Court found that the man had no mental health issues.
The case has been forwarded to a trial court for sentencing as cross-dressing is illegal in the UAE.
