As per court records, the case happened last year when the inspectors of the RAK residency and foreigners’ affairs directorate general, following a tip-off, arrested six Asian workers working illegally in a trading company in RAK.

The owner of the company was summoned for interrogation, and was then referred to the RAK Public Prosecution which in turn arraigned them to the RAK Misdemeanour Court of First Instance. He was ordered to pay a fine of Dh600,000, and to serve one year in jail.
