A Nigerian suspect who was using a forged Visa card to buy jewellery, was recently nabbed by the Sharjah Police. The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) succeeded in arresting the suspect who purchased various jewellery items from different gold shops in the emirate.

The CID received a tip-off regarding the suspect who was holding several Visa cards issued from various foreign banks not operating in the UAE. The department set up a special team and the suspect was arrested.

On frisking him, more Visa cards were found in his possession with names of various people from his country. When the police officers checked his legal status in the country it was found out that he was holding a visit visa of another person who was not in the UAE .

When confronted about his activity, he confessed to his crime and was detained. He will be referred to the public prosecution. The Sharjah Police is urging shop owners that if they get suspicious about any Visa card holder then they should always cross check his identity and immediately report to the police in case a forged Visa card is being used.
