The RAK Criminal Court of First Instance has started hearing a case in which an Asian resident has been charged with murdering two brothers, both Asians, after financial disputes.

As per court records, the case dates back to last summer when the suspect allegedly slaughtered the first victim with a knife while he was talking on the telephone in his room at the new sheep market in the emirate.

The accused then moved to the room of the second victim who was sleeping and butchered him. While running out, the first victim tried to stop him despite his serious injuries. The accused allegedly stabbed him again to death.

Some of the victims’ compatriots rushed to a police patrol that was passing by. The suspect was arrested and he confessed to his crime during interrogation. He told the police that he killed the two brothers because of a dispute over Dh300.

The RAK Police referred the accused to the RAK Public Prosecution which charged him with premeditated murder. The RAK Criminal Court of First Instance, consisting of presiding judge Yusuf Rajab, Hamad Abdul Kareem and Arif Al Zaabi, started hearing the case, and ordered the adjournment of it to June 20, to hear the witnesses.

In another case, the same court heard and discussed the report of the RAK Police criminal expert in which a 50-year-old man was killed by two Arab painters.

Court records show that the case dates back to last year when the children of the deceased reported his absence to the RAK Police after he went to RAK city to do some works.

Police investigations led to two young men who proved to have killed the father to rob his money.

In a third case, the same court sentenced an Arab resident to life in prison and deportation thereafter after convicting him of possessing and trafficking narcotics. The court also ordered the confiscation and destruction of the contraband.

As per court records, the anti-narcotics team arrested the accused following a tip-off. The man proved to have possessed a large quantity of drugs for trafficking.

The same court, however, acquitted another Arab resident from the charge of consuming narcotics. The man proved to be suffering from chronic diseases for which he used to take the narcotic drugs found in his possession.
