Maid attacks sleeping boss with hammer

An Indonesian housemaid launched a lethal hammer attack on her sleeping boss, dislocating her jaw and breaking her nose, in an alleged attempt to kill the woman for ill treatment.

Dubai Police have arrested the maid.

The police were called to a residential building in Al Nahda 1 area about 7.30 on Thursday morning after an accident was reported.

When police arrived, they found a gathering outside a flat.

Police said the Jordanian husband, who works as a sales manager, called the police and told them that he left his home around 7am to take his children to school, returning after half an hour and found that the 28-year-old maid had assaulted his wife while she was sleeping.

The maid took a hammer from the kitchen and went to his wife, hitting her on the head, face and rest of her body. The woman suffered a dislocated jaw, broken nose, and injuries to her left eye, head, back and shoulder. During the police interrogation, the housemaid said that she did not intend to kill the woman, but she was upset because the 33-year-old Jordanian housewife was treating her badly.

The maid was referred to the Dubai Public Prosecution on charges of attempted murder, while the injured woman is recovering in a stable condition.
