A Saudi man accused of calling up a receptionist at the hotel where he was staying and threatening him of blowing up the hotel unless an employee was sent to his room for service has been given a suspended jail sentence of three months.

The Court of First Instance ordered him to pay a Dh2,000 fine for consuming alcohol without a license.

The 47-year-old man, identified as M.A., allegedly called the receptionist and claimed he was a Daesh member and that he would blow up the hotel if an employee was not sent to his room for help.

The court ordered that he be deported.

The incident happened on October 4.

The receptionist, a 30-year-old from Egypt, said in the public prosecution investigation that he was on duty at the hotel when he received a call from the room in which M.A. was staying.

"M.A. claimed to be a Daesh member and that unless someone went to his help he would detonate the hotel," the witness told the prosecutor.

He called the police.

M.A. admitted in the investigation to the charges.
