Jail suggested for drug users

A meeting held on Thursday by the General Department of Anti-Narcotics of Dubai police, to discuss drugs that are not listed in the drug table, has recommended enforcing of Article No 41 of the Federal Anti-Narcotics Act.

The meeting concluded that Article No 41 of the act must be put into force. The law inflicts a minimum jail penalty of one year up to a maximum of three years imprisonment on a drug user, or against whoever uses any material, a drug plant or a mind-altering drug which are unlisted in the drugs table of the federal anti-narcotics law of the UAE.

The meeting was held at the General Department of Anti-Narcotics of the Dubai police, and was attended by Colonel Khaled Saleh Al Kawari, Deputy Director-General of the department, and Counselor Waleed Al Faqaie, Head of the Dubai Narcotics Prosecution, along with a number of directors of the subordinate anti-narcotics departments.

The meeting tackled drugs which are not listed in the illegal drugs table of the federal anti-narcotics law to find out what these drugs are, whether they are poisonous and the symptoms if any on drug takers.—
