The Public prosecutor of Khor Fakkan, Mohammed Ibrahim, has ordered the detention of 15 persons for their alleged involvement in a violent fight that left five people injured in the Khor Fakkan industrial area last week.
The fight started with exchange of abusive languages between two groups. It soon took a violent turn when the two groups attacked each other with machine gun, cleavers, knives and swords.
Out of the five injured, one person who was shot in the stomach is said to be in serious condition, while the rest, with moderate to serious injuries, are being treated at Khor Fakkan government hospital. Although, the Khor Fakkan Police have recovered all the sharp weapons, the search is still on for the gun used in the fight. The police also found three vehicles parked at the site of the clash and is investigating about their owners.
A total of 18 persons - all Emiratis from Khor Fakkan - some with police criminal records, drugs, drug addicts and pushers, and some wanted in criminal cases are said to be involved in the fight. Out of the 18, 15 have been arrested while three are still at large. Public prosecutors spent more than 20 hours in two days investigating the case.
The prolonged interrogation of the suspects saw many contradictory statements with some suspects confessing and some denying.
