Guard in prison for molesting worker
DUBAI - A guard was sentenced to one year in prison on Sunday for molesting a 22-year-old worker.
The Court of First Instance ordered that the Pakistani defendant, 38, be deported after serving his prison term. The verdict is subject to appeal within 15 days at the Court of Appeal.
The worker, a Chinese national, told the prosecutor that the incident happened in February. He was alone at his apartment when the defendant, who worked in the same building, came to take some measurements. He was sleeping and the defendant asked for his help in taking the measurements. But he said he was tired and wanted to sleep. Then the defendant offered to massage him. Though he said no, the accused started to touch the worker’s body and massage him. The defendant then locked the door and molested the worker. He could not resist as the defendant grabbed him from his neck to stop him from moving.
Later, the worker told his colleagues and filed a complaint at the Naif police station.
A police lieutenant said that the defendant admitted during the interrogation that he had molested the worker. The accused asked for forgiveness.
