Guard gets woman drunk, rapes her

A guard raped a woman at a hotel room taking advantage of her being drunk during a night out together, a court heard on Thursday.

According to the case, the 26-year-old Ethiopian guard met the compatriot woman in the night the incident allegedly happened as he had agreed to help her find a good job. He lured her into drinking alcohol with him and forced himself on her after she lost sobriety.

He faced charges of rape and consumption of alcohol in the Court of First Instance. The complainant, a 29-year-old maid, told the prosecutor that she met the defendant more than a week earlier at a restaurant in Karama. He introduced himself to her and her girlfriend and said he was willing to help her find a good job.

She met the defendant in the night the incident happened in September last year. She had brought with her a passport copy and her photograph.

She met him in the lobby of a hotel whose manager, he claimed, had agreed to employ her. She handed him her papers. They went out and had dinner, then went to a wedding party at a hotel where they consumed alcohol.

She said she drank alcohol for the first time in her life to please the defendant as she did not want to lose the job opportunity he had promised her. She felt dizzy and remembered only walking out with the accused. She could not recall what happened later.

She woke up the following day to see herself in a hotel room and the defendant by her side. She was naked. The defendant told her that they had sex and he wanted to have sex again. She did not want to and he did not force her. She got dressed and took a cab to her sponsor’s house in Sharjah. She told her friend about what happened and later filed a police complaint. According to the report of Criminal Lab, the DNA of the semen stains found in her matched with the defendant’s.
