Dr Gargash hailed the efforts of the committee members and other stakeholders for their efforts to highlight the state’s commitment to combat human trafficking crimes.

The committee discussed the findings of a survey conducted by the Emirates Association for Human Rights to measure the level of awareness about human trafficking and its countermeasures in the UAE. Dr Gargash praised the efforts of the Emirates Association for Human Rights in complementing NCCHT’s work and said the survey’s results will further help the NCCHT’s drive against the crime.

“Awareness among community members about human trafficking is the most important factor deterring the crime,” he said.

The committee also discussed an invitation from the Conference of State Parties to the UN Convention against Transnational Organised Crime to be held as part of its sixth session in Vienna from October 15 to 19 next year.
