Gang making counterfeit money busted in Sharjah
The police confiscated all tools used in forging the currency as well as a large number of forged dirham notes from the house of the suspects.
The Sharjah Police on Wednesday arrested a gang of three Bangladeshis involved in forging fake UAE dirham notes.
The police said that they were tipped off that the suspects, identified as M.W.A, M.B.L, M.G.A, specialised in forging the country’s currency notes and were selling them to people at a cheap price.
A thorough investigation by the police led them to the location and identification of the suspects. Upon raiding their house located in a farm in the central region of the emirate, the police confiscated all tools used in forging the currency as well as a large number of forged dirham notes.
During the interrogation, the suspects, who work at a farm, said they forged the currency to sell it to people as well as use it themselves. Police also found out that one of them had entered the country illegally earlier for the purpose. The case has been referred to public prosecution.
Col Ariff Al Shamsi, Director of Central Region police station, urged the public to cooperate by informing about any illegals in the region. He warned that anyone found employing such illegals will be slapped with a tough penalty.
