Two UAE nationals were killed when the sports car they were travelling in suddenly swerved, hit a van parked on the roadside and then overturned in a sandy area in the Dubai Investment Park compound. The car of the deceased bore an Oman number plate, the police said.
Colonel Saif Muhair Al Mazroui, Acting Director of the General Department of Traffic, said police patrols rushed to the accident site after being alerted by a passer-by. Investigations revealed that the car’s engine was modified to boost speed.
In another accident on the same day, an Indian national died when he lost control over his motorcycle while travelling on Hasa Road and hit an electricity pole.
A similar accident took place on Sunday when a motorcyclist who was delivering fast food was hit by a heavy truck and died on the spot.
