Dubai: The Dubai Public Prosecution on Monday referred a gang of five robbers to the Dubai Court of First Instance, who entered a salon and threatened a hairdresser using a screwdriver and a pair of scissors to make off with Dh3,000, three cell phones and the barber’s wallet.

According to court records, the 25-year-old Pakistani barber reported the robbery to the Dubai Police in October.

He claimed that while he was cleaning up the barber shop at Abu Hail area, he was surprised by three people entering the shop. He stated that one of robbers was carrying a screwdriver and threatened him he would stab the driver if he made any sound. The second accused picked a pair of scissors from the shop and threatened to slit his throat as well. The robbers asked the barber to hand them the drawers’ keys.

They stole Dh3,000 and two mobile phones, and ran away after closing the shop’s door.

The police managed to find the trio, who were said to be living in Al Qusais neighbourhood.

The arrested suspects are identified as T.M.A, 24; H.A.M, 23; and G.Kh.Sh, 21, all jobless. The investigation showed that two more Pakistanis identified as N.A.A, 28, and M.R.A, 22, were implicated in the robbery by aiding and abetting their partners.

The five accused had been involved in similar crimes before.

The victim identified the three robbers. The prosecution records said the other two were waiting in a car in front of the barber shop to help pick their crime partners and flee the crime scene.

The public prosecution on Monday referred all of them to the Dubai criminal court for robbery.

Before court, all the accused confessed to their crime. The court adjourned the case to January 15 to give a verdict.
