Ajman: The Ajman Civil Defense has controlled a blaze that occurred at a dry fruits (nuts) warehouse located at Ajman industrial area.
The incident took place on Saturday, December 27, 2014. No one was reported injured.
The fire spread across the warehouse and the roof caved in. The place belonged to a food supply company.
According to Colonel Nasser Rashid Al Zarri, head of the media and public relations of Ajman Civil Defense, the operations room of the civil defense received a call on the fire which took place on Saturday afternoon. "A team from the civil defense and ambulance was rushed to the warehouse. The place was evacuated before starting we commenced the extinguishing process. Once we got the fire out, the site was handed over to the concerned department who are responsible to look into the cause of the fire."
Colonel Al Zarri urged owners of warehouse and shops to make sure that their fire detector alarms are operating and regularly maintained. "They should not place the commodities and pile them up at the warehouses or stores entrance to ensure quick intervention and access for fire fighters," he said.
