The police were alerted by the lawyers of the companies whose products were being faked that an Arab resident was hiding large amounts of fake products.
Fake cosmetics and perfumes worth over Dh1 million have been confiscated by the Umm Al Quwain Police from the Umm Al Thuoob Industrial Area.
Major Salem Ali Halees, acting Director, Criminal Investigations Department (CID), said police were alerted by the lawyers of the companies whose products were being faked.
He said the lawyers complained that an Arab resident was hiding large amounts of fake cosmetics and perfumes in two warehouses with the intention of selling them.
The Organised Crimes Section of UAQ Police found cartons stuffed with fake products in the two warehouses. They were seized in coordination with the Economic Development Department.
Major Halees said the seized products would be destroyed.
Fake goods, besides violating intellectual property rights, can also pose a grave risk to users’ health.
