The Ajman Police have arrested two Asians who stole money and goods worth Dh60,000 from various shops.
Major Mohamed Yafoor Al Ghafly, deputy director of the criminal investigation department of the Ajman Police, said they received information that burglars had broken into a mobile phone shop and decamped with phone boxes displayed for sale, phone recharge cards as well as money worth Dh39,000.
"As soon as we were informed about the robbery, a team was formed to launch a probe. We zeroed in on the whereabouts of the suspects and arrested them from Ajman industrial area, after fierce resistance from the accused," he said.
On being interrogated, the duo confessed robbing two more shops using the same modus operandi. After their confession, the suspects were detained. They will be referred to the public prosecution. The stolen money has been returned to the shop owners.
Major Al Ghafly urged owners of shops and other establishments to ensure safety of their commercial outlets.
