Three Nigerian men were cleared on Tuesday by the Court of First Instance of physically assaulting a compatriot and making him spit nine teeth out.
A complaint had been filed by the man against the trio, accusing them of beating him up and badly injuring him.
According to prosecution records, the 44-year-old Nigerian, a commercial broker, was physically assaulted by the accused on May 11 in the Naif area.
The three (a PRO, a visitor and a supervisor) all earlier denied in the court a physical assault leading to permanent injury charge and claimed the complaint was withdrawn by the victim. The court found them not guilty of the charge on Tuesday.
The alleged victim said during the investigation that he received a phone call on the incident day from one of the accused. "I was at my work in Sharjah when one of the defendants called to say he wanted to see me. I went to them and we took a cab to Naif area".
He said that as he was about to step off the cab, one of the defendants dragged him out of the car and punched and kicked him. He said he was injured and lost nine teeth in the attack.
A Pakistani taxi driver said three Africans rode in his car from Al Nahda. "One of them told me to drop them at the Naif police station. But then another told me to stop at a gas station. There was another African there and he opened the back door of the car and punched and beat one of the passengers. He ran away afterwards".
