The Public Prosecution of Dubai said three persons, who are of Asian origin, are facing trial in the Criminal Court after they allegedly assaulted a man in their bid to steal his personal belongings.

Documents available with the public prosecution showed the incident had occurred on January 25, when the victim, 35, also of Asian origin, was parking his car in front of his house, an old villa, at Hamdan neighbourhood.

Suddenly, two persons accosted him and asked him to hand over his wallet and mobile phone.

The victim refused to part with his belongings. At that point in time, the third person, a fugitive, attacked him. The other two accused also got into the act and rained blows on the victim, who passed out following the assault.

The alleged perpetrators decamped from the scene of the crime, as the victim’s neighbours came to his rescue.

The victim was taken to Rashid Hospital, where he received medical attention.

Medical reports showed he suffered a 4 per cent permanent disability following a fracture in his skill.

The police have arrested all three suspects, who are facing trial.

The legal proceedings are in progress.
