Drugs pusher sentenced to life in jail

The Abu Dhabi Criminal Court has sentenced a GCC national to life in prison for the possession of drugs, with the intent of peddling and consuming them.

He was also slapped with a Dh50,000 fine on a set of drugs-related counts and fined Dh6,000 for possessing a live cartridge.

The case unfolded when the authorities got information that the defendant was in possession of narcotics. The police seized 3kgs of hashish, some heroin and opium, 431 strips of tramadol pills and one gun cartridge at his residence.

He confessed to possessing the seized items, and said he had purchased the drugs from a GCC national for Dh40,000 and claimed he had owned the bullet for a long time.

The forensic report confirmed that traces of heroin, morphine, codeine, and phenobarbital and axasbiam were found in his urine.
