Driver killed in boat crash, three airlifted to hospital

Three workers who suffered moderate injuries were taken to the hospital, while medical care was provided for six others.

Abu Dhabi - The driver of a boat died and three men were transported by the Abu Dhabi Police air ambulance to a hospital after their boat collided with a breakwater at Al Raha Beach on Tuesday.

Air ambulance responded to a call in the morning about an accident involving nine workers and immediately dispatched the air ambulance to join on-site emergency teams including a road ambulance and police. Three workers who suffered moderate injuries were taken to the hospital, while medical care was provided for the others on the scene.

Brigadier-General pilot Ali Mohammed Mazrui, Director, Air Wing, Abu Dhabi Police, urged sea-goers to check the weather forecast; inform the authorities concerned both before departure and after return; carry safety and security items, particularly life jackets, a GPS device and a communication device; and report any emergency, if necessary, to the search and rescue operations authority.
