The Court of First Instance ordered that the 20-year-old Indian defendant be deported after serving his prison term. The verdict is subject to appeal within 15 days at the Court of Appeal.

According to prosecution records, the defendant, along with other runaway suspects, brought an Indian woman from her home country after they lured her with a maid’s job. However, they forced her into prostitution under threat, intimidation and confinement.

They denied the woman her freedom after locking her in an apartment in Naif, the same apartment in which they were running a brothel.

The victim, 31, told the prosecutor that she was contacted by a man back home who offered her a job as a maid for a family here.

He bought her the ticket and had a visit visa issued for her.

She was received at the Dubai International Airport by the defendant and his accomplice, a runaway, in March. They took her to an apartment in Deira and the defendant stayed there with her.

Two days later, the accomplice raped her, she alleged. He raped her again the following day.

The accomplice told her that she would work in prostitution for three months until she paid them back the travel and visa expenses.

The accomplice threatened to sell her to others who would sexually exploit her for five years if she did not obey him and she was locked up. The victim saw another Indian woman and knew from her that she was also deceived. The woman’s passport was also taken from her.

About 10 days later, she contracted an illness and she called the Dubai Police after taking the number from a man she had sex with. She led the police to the flat where she was locked up.

She was freed and the defendant, who tried to escape through the kitchen window, was caught.

A police sergeant said during the investigation that they raided the flat after being informed about a woman confined in a flat and forced into prostitution.
