According to the prosecution records, the alleged Indian victim, aged 31, said she was a widow with two children and was looking for a job as a maid to support them. She was contacted by a man back home who offered her a job of a maid for a family here. He bought her the flight ticket and got a visit visa issued in her name.

She was received at the Dubai International Airport by the Indian defendant and his accomplice, a runaway, in March. They took her to an apartment in Naif, Deira. The apartment had partitions. The accomplice told her that she would work there.

Two days later, the defendant’s accomplice raped her after telling her that none would hear her screams for help and everyone around is part of his racket. He raped her again the following day.

He told her that she would work in prostitution for three months until she paid them back the travel and visa expenses. She began having paid sex with the men the defendant and his accomplice brought to the apartment.

The accomplice threatened to sell her to others who would sexually exploit her for five years if she did not obey him. She was locked up inside the flat.

The victim saw another Indian woman and learnt from her that she was also deceived into coming here and sexually exploited. The woman’s passport was also taken from her. Ten days later, she contracted an illness because of the multiple sexual relations.

She called the Dubai Police after taking the number from a man she had sex with. She led the police to the flat where she was locked up.

A police sergeant said during investigation that they were informed about a woman being confined in a flat and forced into prostitution. They raided the place with a Public Prosecution warrant. The defendant was arrested as he was trying to take the stairs to the rooftop of the building.

During interrogation, the accused said the runaway accomplice had brought him to the UAE to work as a domestic servant for someone in Al Ain but he did not pass the medical fitness test because he had an infectious disease. Hence, he let the defendant manage the flat, which was a brothel, for Dh750 a month.
