The Sharjah Police on Thursday arrested two wanted Arab suspects — a woman dancer and a GCC national man — allegedly for a spate of thefts in commercial and residential areas of Khorfakkan until January this year.

According to the police, the gang, including the three men and a woman, planned and carried out thefts including breaking into offices and flats and stealing the safe vaults in Khorfakkan. The police had arrested the main suspect in January itself. The fourth suspect is still at large.

A top Criminal Investigation Department officer said that the two suspects were wanted by the Sharjah police since January when the main suspect was arrested and a large quantity of stolen gold jewellery pieces were seized from his possession.

The officer said the woman was working as a dancer in a hotel located in a neighbouring emirate. The main suspect used hand over the stolen jewellery to her. The GCC national, who was in a relationship with the dancer, used the take the jewellery pieces from her and bury them in a desert in Khorfakkan. During interrogation, the woman first denied the entire allegations and denied her connection with main suspect and the third suspect. When the police confronted her with the third suspect, she confessed to her role in the crime.
