Combating coronavirus: Dubai Courts issue personal status documents after virtual meetings

Dubai Courts has been issuing documents and certificates after virtual meetings between the judge of the Personal Status Court and the parties concerned.
The service, which previously required physical presence of the parties at the Personal Status services section of the Dubai Courts, has been made available electronically. It aims at providing continuous services for the public while sticking to the Covid-19 precautionary measures. 
Hamad Mohamed Al Janahi, head of the personal status services section at the Dubai Courts, said that 40 requests for the service were filed in the first week of its launch. "The average time an application takes to be run is one working day if it is filed during the official work timings and if the parties concerned are available. It helps process the application swiftly."
Al Janahi pointed out that the service has been lauded by the customers as it is rapid and smooth and spares the hassle of visiting the Personal Status services section in person.
"The service can be availed on the Dubai Courts portal. Customers can file their requests all week long during the official work timings from 9 am to 2 pm from Sunday to Thursday," Al Janahi explained.
Direct and simultaneuous online meetings are then made between the judge, the applicant and the witnesses.   
After the document is approved, it is sent to the customer within three hours via e-mail.
