The Court of First Instance ordered that the Jordanian defendant pay a fine of Dh50,000 and that he be deported after serving his prison term.

The verdict is subject to appeal within 15 days at the Court of Appeal.

A police lieutenant in the Anti-Narcotics Department said that they arrested the defendant outside a night club in Jumeirah.

They did not find any drugs with him at the time.

The defendant first claimed that he had sold his car and later said it was missing.

But after he was brought to the narcotics department, he decided to lead the police to his car.

A quantity of hashish was found in the car which the accused claimed belonged to a Qatari man.

He said that he had kept the drugs for more than two months and that he was only safe-guarding it.

The defendant’s urine sample test was negative for drugs according to the Criminal Lab report. — mary@khaleejtimes.com
