Child dies after family leaves him in car for four hours

A two-year-old Emirati boy died on Saturday due to suffocation as his family forgot him in the car in front of his house in Kalba for four hours.

A Kalba police official said that they had not received any complaint about the incident.

The child, identified as Saeed Obaid Al Mufti, was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced dead due to suffocation. No criminal act is suspected in the incident.

A relative of the family said that the child had accompanied his family in the car and when the family returned home at 3pm, they forgot the child inside the car. After four hours, they discovered that the child was missing.

The family members launched an intense search till they remembered that the boy had been forgotten in the car. They ran to the car and found the boy motionless. He was rushed to Kalba Hospital where the doctor said the boy had died due to suffocation and handed the body back to his family.
