The 38-year-old Pakistani was charged with rape attempt in the Court of First Instance.
According to prosecution records, the defendant began forcefully undressing the victim. He could not rape her as she managed to call the police on her mobile phone. The police rushed to her rescue shortly later.
The complainant, a 35-year-old hair dresser, told the prosecutor that she was married and that her husband was in Malaysia.
She said that she shared a brotherly relationship with the defendant whom she had known for over a month. They used to go out together a lot.
On the day when he allegedly tried to rape her, in October last year, they both had a day-off. They went out and later ordered food and ate in his car. He then offered to show her his flat at International City. She went with him after he insisted.Once in the bedroom she called her husband, but he did not approve of the visit and asked her to leave.
She asked the accused to drop her home, but he grabbed her and pulled her to his bed telling her about his desire to have sex with her. He then threatened her and as she cried and resisted, he tried to undress her. She somehow managed to enter the bathroom and called her husband who told her to call the police.
She sought help and told the cops that she was held up in the flat. The police officers spoke to the defendant on the phone and were led to the flat.
The defendant begged her for forgiveness and pleaded her not to file a complaint.
As she walked out of his flat he put some cash in her purse.
The police met them on the stairs and arrested the defendant.— mary@khaleejtimes.com
