The three workers were injured in the first incident in which a massive fire destroyed a warehouse storing paint barrels in Ajman Industrial Area and two 4WD vehicles. Two of them suffered first-degree burns and are battling for life in Khalifa Hospital. The other received moderate burns and is also admitted in the same hospital.

Lieutenant Ali Hassan Al Marzouqi of Ajman Civil Defence said they were alerted about the fire around 10am.

The second fire occurred in a villa of a UAE national in Al Jarf area around the same time, destroying the building and the household goods. Lt Al Marzouqi confirmed that there were no casualties. In the third incident, rooms in a labour accommodation facility in Ajman Industrial Area were gutted. No one was injured but electrical appliances and other contents of the rooms were destroyed.

The fourth fire erupted in furniture warehouse in the New Industrial Area around 7.45pm destroying all its content. No one was injured. The fire was put out in a short time before it spread to nearby premises and warehouses. The warehouse stored inflammable material as cotton, sponge, wood, fabrics and various material used in making furniture. Improper storage and failure to maintain the fire protection equipment caused the fire, a Civil Defence official said.

The police cordoned off the area and started the investigation to determine the cause of the fire. The loss is roughly estimated to be over Dh1 million.
