Two men and a woman forced a teenager into prostitution and another into giving illegal massage services, a Dubai court heard on Tuesday.
In the Court of First Instance, the Bangladeshi defendants, who are in their forties, were charged with human trafficking.
According to prosecution records, the three accused brought the two girls, aged 15 and 19, to the UAE to work as a maid and a masseuse respectively.
However, once they picked them, they seized their passports, and forced one into prostitution and into giving massages to men.
The defendants intimidated the girls and assaulted them, the court heard. The girls were forced to work from 10am to midnight.
The 19-year-old Bangladeshi girl said in the investigation that she was pursuing college in her hometown. She arrived in Sharjah on September 9 last year to work at a massage centre.
She was taken to a flat in Deira, where she stayed for six months. She said she was dropped at different flats across Dubai where she gave massages to men. The accused used to collect Dh100 to Dh300 for the service.
She said she refused to give the massage initially, but the accused assaulted her with a belt and stick.
She sought help of a customer to contact the police after the defendants told her she would have to work as a prostitute.
A police officer said they raided a flat in Al Rafaa after receiving an SMS about a murder incident there on March 1.
However, they found women of different nationalities giving massages and engaged in prostitution. Two of them looked like they were less than 18 years, he said. The hearing has been adjourned to August 30. - mary@khaleejtimes.com
