The General Department of Anti-Narcotics of the Dubai Police has foiled three attempts to smuggle drugs during March and arrested two Asian males and an Asian female, an official source told Khaleej Times.
He said that the first attempt was foiled at the Dubai International Airport when the police arrested a 30-year-old Asian woman, B.J., at the end of March while she was travelling from Brazil on her way to Oman.
The police stopped the woman after receiving information that she was involved in drug trafficking. She was found carrying 1,212 grams of cocaine in her undergarments.
The suspect told the police that a friend asked her to travel to Brazil to bring stuff for him and offered her good money.
In Brazil, somebody gave her a ticket to Oman and asked her to wear the dress given by them before travelling.
The International Anti-Narcotic Department of the Dubai Police, in coordination with the Sharjah Police, has foiled an attempt to smuggle 84 capsules of heroin and arrested the Asian suspect, 35-year-old Y. Kh., at the Sharjah International Airport on his arrival from his county after receiving information that he had swallowed drugs.
During X-ray examination, the police found the drug and he was taken to Al Qasimi Hospital in Sharjah where 84 capsules weighing 800 gram of heroin were disposed.
In another case, a 30-year-old Asian was arrested by the police after a raid at the Dubai Vegetable Market in Al Aweer area. The police found 150 capsules of heroin weighing 1,800 grams in his possession.
He said that he smuggled the drug from his country to Dubai after swallowing the capsules, adding that he had done it earlier also.
