21-year-old dies as vehicle overturns

A 21-year-old Emirati man, identified as S.G.A, died in a traffic accident on the Mohammed bin Zayed Road in the early hours of Monday.

According to a senior officer, the victim lost control over the steering wheel and the four-wheel drive veered off the road and overturned several times. He was throown out of the vehicle and killed on the spot.

“The victim’s friend, A.A. who was with him, received moderate injuries and was shifted to the hospital for treatment and medical care,” said Col Abdullah Ali, Director of the Traffic and Patrol Department. of the police

He added that the mishap occurred around 3am when the two were on their way back to their emirate from Ras Al Khaimah in the direction of the roundabout of the Mohammed bin Zayed road.

The Central Operations Room, having been alerted of the accident, dispatched police and traffic and rescue patrols to the scene.

“The accident was so grave that the two men were thrown out of the vehicle; the motorist died on the spot while the other received several injuries,” Col Ali, added.
