As per court records, the Anti-Narcotics Department of the Ras Al Khaimah Police was alerted that two youths were planning to smuggle some narcotics into the country through the Ras Al Dara crossing point in accomplice with others abroad.

The police searched their vehicle and recovered 1.5kg of hashish.

Though the duo first denied any connection to the drugs, the RAK Public Prosecution charged them with smuggling and possessing narcotics with the intention of trafficking.

Investigation proved that the duo had conspired with a friend abroad.

The accused later admitted to possessing the drugs for consumption, but denied any trafficking plans.

The court, consisting of presiding judge Yusuf Rajab, Hamad Abdul Kareem and Arif Humaidan convicted the suspects with only possessing drugs.
