DUBAI - Young Talents Cricket Academy overcame a stiff target to defeat touring Barmy Amry Colts from England in an Under-16 game at the ICC Global Cricket Academy ground, a press release said.
After winning the toss, Colts put up 203 for 5 in 35 overs. Openers Coluerd and Harbourne built the platform scoring 47 and 33 respectively. However, a small collapse brought YTCA back into the game. But that failed to slow the scoring rate as Basey and Zaib built momentum. Basey scored 36 while Zaib played a valuable knock of 41 not out. YTCA bowler Chirag Suri picked up two key wickets while Hamza, Sairaj and Omar picked up a wicket each.
In reply, YTCA openers Salman and Dharam made sure there were no early hiccups as they put up a 50 plus partnership. Having played the foundation for a thrilling contest, the onus was on Chirag and Sairaj to take their side home. The local boys made full use of the opportunity to seal the victory with only a ball to spare. Chirag was the top scorer with 67 while Sairaj remained unbeaten on 48. Sutherland, Bilal and Saif picked up a wicket each for Colts.
Chirag Suri was named man of the match for his overall performance in the match.
