We’ll win next two T20s, says Swann

On Thursday, the reigning T20 world champions lost the first Twenty20 game by eight runs and now they would be aiming for victory in the next two games of the series.

England are No. 1 in T20 format and Graeme Swann believes England can handle Umar Gul and will win the series 2-1 against Pakistan.

“Twenty20 game fluctuates — it was evident on Thursday night. There were times when we were winning the game. We should not panic as we have the players who can beat Pakistan,” Swann said during a Press conference.

The spinner added: “We have handled Umar Gul very well in the ODI series. No doubt he bowled brilliantly in the first game. But I hope our batsmen will fight it out in next two games.”

England will take inspiration from their brilliant show in the ODI series.

Kevin Pietersen has regained form and he can tear apart any bowling attack. Now he is treating spinners with disdain.

“Had Pietersen stayed in for three or four more overs, we’d have won in 10 overs.

“He’s looking in ominous form at the top of the order.” England are one of the best fielding sides but there were some lapses in the field on Thursday.

“We are doing well in all department of the game and I don’t see any reason we can’t win the next two matches.

“We are a good fielding side but yes there were few mistakes on that particular day.”

“Eoin Morgan has been the best fielder on the trip so far; KP is still pulling out the stops,” the off-spinner added.

On Thursday Asad Shafiq was given run out controversially. Craig Kieswetter collected the ball but could not break the stumps cleanly.

“I am not sure about Shafiq’s run out. Kieswetter broke the stumps but it was not clear how he did that.”

“He might be following Duncan Fletcher’s advice — break the stumps any way,” Swann joked.
