UAE National Club defeat Al Ain Royals
ABU DHABI — Al Manzil Hotels UAE National Club, consisting of UAE Nationals, defeated Al Ain Royals by four wickets in the Al Ain Sportplex Cricket Academy’s Al Ain Jotun Paints Distributer Cup in Al Ain on Monday night.
Twelve teams from all over the UAE are participating in the tournament.
Put into bat, Al Ain Royals had a slow but good start but they couldn’t build on that and were all out for 128 in 20 overs. Openers Talha Javed and Rinku Rajan put on 53 runs in 10 overs before wickets fell at regular intervals. Poor running between the wickets and some excellent fielding by Al Manzil Hotels UAE National Club restricted Al Ain Royals to 128.
Talha Javed made 32, while Rinku Rajan made 17. Omer Butt scored 21 and Fahad Sohail made 15.
Fayyaz Ahmed took 2 for 25, while Nasir Suwaile took 2 for 31.
In reply, Al Manzil Hotels UAE National Club openers Saif Murad and Nasir Suwaile put on 20 in three overs before both got out. Captain Alawi Al Braik held one end up as he scored 23 from 29 balls. Al Manzil Hotels UAE National Club needed 35 from the last five overs and Fayyaz Ahmed and Waqas Alawi took them home with an unbeaten 12 and 14 respectively, with 10 balls to spare. Rinku Rajan took 2 for 23, while Omer Butt took 2 for 21.
