In a Group F match on Monday night, UAB defeated NTDE by 39 runs and gave themselves a good chance of making it to the pre-quarters of the 20-over tournament organized by Dulsco SC in association with the Dubai Municipality.
The last Group F match between AEN Cricket Team and AGE Group will decide who will advance to the knockout stage.
In another match, Active IT Distribution beat Emirates NBD by six wickets to top Group E. Electing to bat, UAB put on 172 runs for the loss of nine wickets. Mohammed Zaheer was the top scorer for the winners with a 20-ball 44 which included five sixes and two fours. Tanveer scored 42 from 22 deliveries and hit three sixes and as many fours. Babar (17), and Tehseen (11) were the other contributors for UAB.
Haroon claimed two wickets for 34 runs while Kaleem Asif, Liju, Rajesh and Sreeshan picked up one each.
In reply NTDE managed 133 for the loss of eight wickets conceding a 39-run victory. Zeeshan was the top scorer for NTDE. Farid (28), Kaleem (20 not out), and Waseem 12 were the other scorers for NTDE.
Afzal, Sohail and Sultan claimed two wickets each for 22, 24 and 27 runs respectively. Mohmmed Zaheer of UAB was named man of the match.
The match between Active IT and Emirates NBD was to decide who would top the pool as both had advanced to the knockout state from Group E.
Electing to bat, Emirates NBD put on 133 runs for the loss of six wickets while Active IT reached the target in 16.4 overs.
Ashraf scored a half-century (52) and hit four sixes and three fours. Naeem made 18 and Faizaan 10 as Active IT lost four wickets before reaching the target.
Santosh claimed two wickets for20 runs. Earlier Emirates NBD, electing to bat first, scored 133 for the loss of six wickets. Kamal was their top scorer with 48 followed by Roshan 25 and Faisal 24. Shadan was not out on 10. Asif was the most successful bowler for Active IT bagging three wickets for 19 runs.
Naimool Ashraf of Active IT Distributions was named the man of the match.
