Tom Latham puts Durham on top

DUBAI — Tom Latham scored a terrific unbeaten 112 to put Durham on the top against the touring YTCA in a two-day match played at the Emirates Stadium, Riverside in Durham, a press release said.

Earlier, batting first, Rameez Shahzad scored an unbeaten 101 as YTCA managed to score 191 all out in 54 overs. Rameez wasbrilliant and waged a lone battle with some terrific shots. Rameez who has also played for UAE earlier was able to hold the innings together and was well supported by Ben O Brian who scored 18. For Durham, Cryer was the top bowler picking up three wickets for 39, while Pringle and Wilkinson took 2 each.

In reply, Durham scored 184 for 2. Latham, who has played for the New Zealand under-19 team, was well supported by JamesCoyne who scored 26.

In another twenty20 match, Sunderland defeated YTCA by 23 runs. Batting first, Sunderland scored 139 in their allotted 20 overs. Youlder made a brilliant unbeaten half century while Applegarth made 35. Sherben chipped in with 23. In reply, YTCA managed only 117. Owais top scored with 67. Ashley was the pick of the bowlers taking four wickets for 22 and Sanderson and Colin scalping two each.
