Tendulkar just misses test runs record

BANGALORE- India’s Sachin Tendulkar has fallen 14 runs short of Brian Lara’s test cricket run scoring world record. Tendulkar was out for 49 -Cameron White’s first test wicket -as India slipped to 138 for four on Monday chasing an unlikely 299 for victory in the last session of the first test between India and Australia at Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Lara, who retired after leading the West Indies at the 2007 World Cup, scored his 11,953 runs from 131 tests with 34 centuries and 48 half centuries.

Tendulkar made his India debut in 1989 against Pakistan at Karachi and has accumulated 11,939 with 39 centuries and 49 half centuries in 151 tests.

Tendulkar holds the record for the most one-day international runs with 16,361.
