In a third quarter-final match played on Tuesday night, Wings XI, electing to bat first, put on 186 runs for seven wickets. E-CAT Dubai Municipality were all out for 140 chasing the victory target.

The tournament, organized by Dulsco Sports Club in association with the Dubai Municipality, is being played under the auspices of the Dubai Cricket Council.

A 99-run opening partnership by Haseeb and Sajid Rehman put Wings XI on course for a big score. Haseeb went on to score 51 with the help of four sixes and an equal number of fours from 31 deliveries. Sajid scored a 28-ball cameo innings of 42 studded with four sixes and one four.

The rest of the batsmen did not flourish like the openers with only Fazil finding some form and scoring a hurricane unbeaten 23 from nine balls, belting one six and hitting two boundaries.

Neeraj 14, Farman 12, and Ravid (10) made some useful contributions for Wings XI as they set a 187-run victory target for the Dubai Municipality.

Azhar Nassir claimed three wickets for 28 runs while Jamil Haider, Tahir A and Yasir picked up one each whilst conceding 31, 20 and 18 runs respectively.

Chasing a difficult task, ECAT Dubai Municipality did make a sound start with their reply. Openers Tausef Asghar and Azhar Nasir put on 39 runs for the first wicket before the latter was caught and bowled by Adil for 23. Asghar went on to complete his half-century (59) with the help of five sixes and four fours.

He saw wickets tumbling at the other end as he tried his level best to keep the score close to the asking rate.

Only Jamil Haider offered him some support but departed after contributing 17 runs. The rest of the batsmen never touched double-digit scores.

Asghar was the seventh man to go, with the score at 129 and his team still way off the target. With his departure all hopes of reaching the target vanished as Dubai Municipality were all out for 140 which included 17 extras in the third ball of the 16th over.

Ravid and Neeraj Ramamoorthy were the successful bowlers for the winners claiming three wickets each. While Ravid conceded nine runs and bowled one maiden over, Neeraj gave away 18 runs in his two overs.

Neeraj was later declared the man of the match.

Adil bagged two for 29, Ayub one for 35 and Farman Umar one for 34.
