Harbhajan Singh is the Man of the Match. The Mumbai Indians did well. The run chase was planned better by Mumbai with Bravo being promoted to open and Sachin holding himself back so that he could guide the team in case of a top order collapse. His onslaught against Sreesanth demoralised Punjab. It's the Punjab batsmen who should take the blame for the defeat though, Punjab really struggled against the slow bowlers, and they are now in seventh place, below Bangalore on net run-rate.

Punjab finished on 119, the same score they successfully defended last time. Mumbai Indians were good in the field and Tendulkar was elegant with his captaincy using the spinners for the majority of the innings. Punjab lost wickets regularly and tried to attack their way out of trouble but it just didn't seem to work for them.

After an exciting victory against the Deccan Chargers in their previous match, Kings XI Punjab outfit would be keen to extend their winning streak and earn a semi-final berth. Punjab has been strengthened by the arrival of Australian pacer Brett Lee, who impressed with both bat and ball in his first IPL match this season. The team's batting has looked sturdy with the top order, consisting of Katich, Sangakkara, Jayawardene and Yuvraj Singh, being amongst the runs. A victory for Punjab increases the chances of being be among the top four.

Mumbai Indians finally ended its losing streak with a victory against Bangalore in their previous match. However, the road to semifinals remains tough for the team as it prepares to take on an equally desperate Punjab. Mumbai's bowling department has taken a hit with the absence of Zaheer and the in-consistent form of Harbhajan. The batting too, barring Duminy's contributions, has failed to impress. Entering a must-win situation, Mumbai would hope for the duo of Sachin and Jayasuriya to fire at the top and take the team to a good start.
